WORKSHOPS
De workshops zitten helaas al vol, maar je kunt je nog wel opgeven voor de wachtlijst! Kans namelijk dat er nog wat plekjes vrij komen..
Luca Barcellona – Milan
Brushpen
Luca is really something special! He is an Italian über master in calligraphy and he doesn’t leave it only at paper, he uses his art also on the street as it turns in the most amazing caligraffiti. In his workshop he is going to show you how to make beautiful lettering with the love of his life: the brushpen.
The brushpen is a great tool to make an experimental and free calligraphy even for the less experienced designers.
It’s the first time that Luca is in the Netherlands to give a workshop and we are proud! He also teaches at Italian Calligraphic Association both in Milan and Turin.
Yomar Augusto – Rotterdam
Experimental calligraphy and type design
Yomar is from Brazil and has been living and working in the Netherlands for a couple of years. What Yomar makes special is his true passion for lettering and design and of course his awesome hand bound books!
He gives calligraphy workshops trough out the whole world; Portugal, Brazil, the Netherlands and even Russia. So he knows what he’s talking about!
In the morning he will start with experimental calligraphy and in the afternoon he will work on type design. So a perfect workshop for those type lovers who want to learn more about on how to create type.
Job Wouters/Letman – Amsterdam
Calligraphy
Job’s designs are transparent, leaving room to breathe. Them letters got things to say, they are so clear it tickles your eye and make you blink. What is this colourful craft? Job’s letters are curious. His handmade style fits the boundries of typography like a universe on itself by lashing out to illustration, grafitti and graphic design.
LEZINGEN
We geven 2×2 kaartjes weg voor de lezingen, wil je meedingen? Mail ons!
Alex Trochut
Alex is an amazing designer from Barcelona who plays with typography like it is a puzzle. He builds upon existing typefaces to make a journey trough fresh, new complex and exiting illustrative compositions. Or like Alex puts it:” I believe there are many hidden doors around us, waiting to be discovered, and that our own work routines doesn’t allow us to see them. But when we do find one, we have the chance to discover a new place.”
Alex’s his grandfather was a printer and typographer and got him hooked on typographic craftsmanship from early age on. Alex is going to show his work, tell his story and you can be sure that it’s going to be very inspiring!
Martijn Sandberg
Martijn is an Amsterdam based artist who uses typography in a very strong manner, he explores the borders between private an public domain and he isn’t afraid of making bold statements and big gestures. With his work he creates a provocative tension between the material, the image and the environment. His art is straight forward, but cheeky.
Martijn’s art varies from typographic design for the elevators in the central public library of Amsterdam, to typographic brick patterns in a housing block and big typographic billboards along the highway.
Yomar Augusto
Yomar is from Brazil and has been living and working in the Netherlands for a couple of years. What Yomar makes special is his true passion for lettering and design and of course his awesome hand bound books!
He gives calligraphy workshops trough out the whole world; Portugal, Brazil, the Netherlands and even Russia. So he knows what he’s talking about!
Expositie
The theme of the expo is ‘Don’t believe the type’. With this we would like to show that design can have a huge influence on how we look at things. We can make bad things look pretty good, shady things look pretty reliable and even make the best things look crappy. Like a sheep in wolves clothing. How far can you go with this?
We’ve asked 25 artists and designers to make a piece with this in mind. We have a line up of:
