Duidelijk.
How did Diplo came to P&V?
We met Wes (Diplo) and Kevin (his manager) in Amsterdam in summer 2011, where we had a chance to talk about our work. After few email exchanges, they commissioned us to make the cover Art of Go. The track is made in collaboration with Dutch DJ Oliver Twizt. Once the single was released in November 2011 they commissioned us to make a music video of the single.
What is the concept of the video about?
Go music video is the extension in motion of the track’s single cover artwork we designed. For the video, we created a hypersonic greyhound race trough a vibrantly odd WWW-landscape, with a hand-crafted virtual parkour in ecstatic browsers and buttons, viral internet-icons and digital dust windstorms. The Go music video can be seen as the visual translation of Diplo & Oliver Twizt’s frenetic remix.
You went overboard with all sorts of techniques to create this anti-style. When do you know you’re done?
When it comes to static images, even though our surfaces are composed of an uncountable number of layers and elements, we know the image is ready when it makes us both feel odd and uncomfortable. One of the hardest components of our design is time efficiency. Essentially when we both like it, that means that there is a major problem! The image should make us both suffocate for a split second.
However, when it comes to video it’s different. This time our beloved, 'impatient-Pinar&Viola-proofed’ video producer José Miguel Biscaya made clear that we need to calm down with the infinite amount of surfaces and scenes that we were fantasizing about.
Even the stills give me a headache already, are you insured for any damage caused by this video?
When Wes saw it, he said it was totally psychedelic. We don’t mind to stimulate a few brain cells with visual ecstasy.
In addition to the video we designed a bunny application for your webcam. This application makes you incarnate as the bunny, the starring actor of Diplo’s video. The technology of this application is developed by Hilal Koyuncu and will be downloadable from our website very soon.
